Kyle Johnson is a 32-year veteran of the Fire Service. He is a graduate of Sacramento State with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and he continued his education taking command and control classes at the National Fire Academy (NFA) in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He retired as a Battalion Chief for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. As a Captain for Metro Fire, Kyle was the Drill Master for the first 3 Metro Fire Recruit academies. He was also assigned to the Sacramento Regional Office of Homeland Security where he was responsible for developing and coordinating multi-jurisdictional training for WMD terrorist events. As a representative of the State of California, Kyle has traveled to Ukraine 6 times as part of the Rough & Ready Exercises. Kyle was instrumental in planning, scheduling and instructing Ukrainian officials and members of their armed forces in ICS and various rescue disciplines. Kyle has been a rescue instructor for California State Fire Training for over 20 years. He is certified to teach Confined Space Rescue, Trench Rescue, Structural Collapse Specialist 1 (Operations) and 2 (Technician). As a member of FEMA’s Urban Search & Rescue Task Force 7, Kyle was deployed to the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995, the Yosemite rock slide in 1996, New York City (WTC) 2001, Hurricane Katrina 2005 and staged for the earthquake in Haiti in 2010. He has several FEMA certifications at the Task Force level which include: Safety Officer, Planning Officer and Task Force Leader.
